EPSRC believes that research can play a vital role in helping the industry to meet these challenges, and has worked with the national Rail Research Strategy Steering Group (RRSSG), led by Department for Transport and including representatives from many organisations in the rail industry and academia, to establish a UK Centre for Rail Systems Research. ‘Rail Research UK: the universities' centre for railway systems research' will work alongside industry with the aim of creating a world-class rail system for the UK. The £7 million centre involves 12 research groups from 7 universities and is jointly led by the Universities of Birmingham and Southampton. Walk. The Younger Members full day seminar "Developing Britain's railway for new technologues - a step nearer the future" will be held at Austin Court, Birmingham on 29 November 2007. Details here. There is an IRSE seminar entitled ERTMS/ETCS in the UK on Tuesday 20 November in London. The seminar is now oversubscribed and there are no more places.
