Add bookmarks to My Discover
There are three ways to add bookmarks to your My Discover account:
1) Inside IET Discover
Whenever you find a bookmark you like in IET Discover, you can add it directly to your account by clicking the Add to my bookmarks button next to the link.
2) Using the browser toolbar
This is the fastest and easiest way to add external links to your account. To add a bookmark, simply click the Add to My Discover link on the toolbar, and the bookmarking window will open with the majority of fields already populated for you.

3) Add new bookmark to your list button
Another way to add external links to My Discover is by clicking the Add new bookmark button in the top navigation bar. This takes a little more work than using the browser toolbar as you will need to copy & paste, or type the bookmark information into the required fields.
About the bookmark window
Title:
This is title of the bookmark. Where possible, the title will be automatically populated for you:
- If the bookmark already exists in IET Discover, its existing title will appear in the title field.
- If you are the first to bookmark the link, the title will be automatically generated from the page title.
N.B.You are free to edit the title to suit your needs.
URL:
-
This is the web address of the bookmark. This usually starts with http://.
Description (optional):
The description field enables you to provide additional information about a bookmark. This is a useful way of maintaining notes about your resources, and will provided valuable information to other engineers who come across that bookmark in IET Discover.
- If this bookmark has already been added by another member, the description will be automatically populated for you, but you are free to customise this to your needs.
- If you are adding a bookmark via the browser toolbar, you can automatically add a description from text in the source web page. Simply highlight the text you would like to use, before clicking the Add to My Discover button, and the text will be automatically added to the description field.
Tags:
Tags are labels that you apply to a bookmark to categorise it in your list. You can assign as many tags as you wish, but you must assign at least one tag.
- Recommended tags
If the bookmark has already been tagged by another user, their tags will be offered as recommendations for you to use. - My tags
These are your top tags. Reusing existing tags is a good way of ensuring consistency in the way you name and classify your bookmarks.

Contribute to my groups:
Take the opportunity to add the bookmark to your relevant groups. Groups act as central repositories for the most relevant, interesting and up-to-the minute resources in a specialist area. Adding bookmarks to groups is a quick and easy way to do your bit to build the groups that serve your interest area.
