A guide to IET Discover
Discover new bookmarks
All Discover is the perfect place to start if you are looking for engineering information, as every bookmark is there because it has been found to be particularly interesting, useful and relevant by another engineer.
Searching for bookmarks by keyword
To search for bookmarks, simply enter a keyword in the search box and press the go arrow. By default, IET Discover will perform a Full text search. This will return results where the keyword occurs in either the content of the bookmarked page or the bookmark's tags.
Searching by tag
Alternatively, you can choose to perform a Tags only search. This will bring back results with matching tags. This is a good way of identifying resources that other engineers feel to be the most relevant for a particular topic.
Sorting your results
Use the filters to change the sort order of your results:
Top rated
Sorts links in order of their star rating - highest rated links at the top.
Most recent
Sorts links by freshness - most recently added links at the top.
Using the results analysis
A powerful feature of IET Discover is the Results analysis panel. Every time you perform a search, IET Discover analyses the results and picks out the top (i.e. most frequently occurring) tags in your results. Clicking on a tag will show you all of the other bookmarks in Discover that share the same tag.
