A guide to IET Discover

About rating

Every bookmark in IET Discover has a user star rating. Members are asked to rate a bookmark when they first add it to their list. But from then on, a bookmark's rating is by community vote.

To rate a bookmark, simply mouse over the rating stars next to the bookmark and cast your vote.

  • 1 star represents a poor quality resource
  • 5 stars represents an excellent quality resource.

Sorting results by rating

Clicking the Top rated results filter enables you sort results by quality, bringing the best resources to the top of the list.

The rating sort order is a combination of the average star rating the bookmark has been awarded, together with the number of times it has been rated. i.e. A bookmark with a rating of 4.5 stars, that has been rated by 100 people, will be deemed to have a higher (i.e. more qualified) rating than a bookmark with 5 stars that has been rated by just one person.
