Tags are labels that you assign to bookmarks to organise them in your bookmarks list. Tags work in a similar way to folders, enabling you to categorise and group resources, but they provide a much higher degree of flexibility. Unlike folders, you can apply multiple tags to a single resource. This enables you to be much more descriptive in your categorisation, and it increases the bookmarks findability.
In addition to helping you organise your own bookmarks list, tags enable similar types of resources from other users to be aggregated together. When you make a Tags only search, or click on tag in a search result or tag cloud, you will get all the resources, from across IET Discover, which users have tagged with that word. This is an excellent way of finding resources that other users have found interesting on that topic.
Whenever you add a bookmark to your list, you will be asked to add some tags.
There are many ways to tag a document, and you can combine different approaches. For example a link called: "Renewable Fuels Infrastructure", could be tagged in the following ways:
biofuel, energy, renewables
news, reports, my publications, my reviews
biofuel, energy, renewables, reports
