As in many ongoing challenges, eventually some leaders will want to revert to the command-and- control mentality and hold everything tight. But it’s not that simple, and a centralist viewpoint is rarely the right answer. Most projects I see don’t have the minimum project management needed for basic project predictability. If your projects are in disarray, then the answer is more basic than a program office or centralized project management. Having staff that understands what is required for project management and project leadership is the first hurdle.
