  Virgin Atlantic is to provide passengers with a unique chance to offset their flight's carbon footprint, it has been revealed. This timely move by the airline to introduce Gold Standard credits, which ... it claims is the only standard that guarantees a positive environmental impact. The company also claims that it is the only airline to commit to the Gold Standard credits, which have been endorsed by over 49 worldwide organisations including environmental groups. Further evidence that environmentalism is taking grip of the tourism industry is found in New Zealand, where the government has announced its industry blueprint for the next eight years. New Zealand prime minister Helen Clark recently told New Zealand's Channel Three News: "The high value visitors we seek to attract are increasingly conscious of their environmental footprint and for many we are a long haul destination."
