  Editor's note: When we published "Blogs Will Change Your Business" in May, 2005, Twittering was an activity dominated by small birds. Truth is, we didn't see MySpace coming. Also Fred Wilson, who is cited in this article, is a partner in Union Square Ventures - an investor in Alex's company. VC ... Fred Wilson asked recently on his blog if there is a business in browser add-ons? I have a vested interest, since my company is in the add-on business. Adding a bit of functionality to your browser can be fun and customization makes software more personal, yet there are issues such as privacy, performance, and the inability of mainstream consumers to manage add-ons. So, can browser add-ons become viable businesses? The browser is a web battlefield. Microsoft will do everything in its power to keep on top of the browser game, but it's been losing ground to Mozilla's Firefox - where security and add-ons are a differentiating factor.   63% Of IT Depts Say Web 2.0 Will Impact Their Business - ReadWriteWeb

  A new report from Forrester Research , a company that has been closely following the adoption of web 2.0 and social technologies by businesses, now says that their earlier predications about Web 2.0 in ... the enterprise may have been too timid. Last year, they said that in 2008 I.T. shops would start to take a leadership role in Web 2.0 adoption by business, but this latest report is now debunking the conventional wisdom that I.T. is as skeptical as once thought. Web 2.0 At Work: Acceptence and Concerns The most startling number to come out of this recent study - a survey of 260+ I.T. professionals - is that 63% are now expecting social technologies to impact the business world. Even more interesting is that they feel that the impact will be a positive one - only 3% of respondents viewed Web 2.0 negatively. However, that's not to say they don't have their concerns.
