  The ultimate in power dressing has been devised by scientists: fibres built using nanotechnology that can generate electricity when they are twisted, bent and moved. Self-cleaning wool and silk developed using nanotechnology Fabrics woven from the power-packing fibres could convert fleeting movements of tents, curtains and clothes into electricity and follow in the footsteps of other energy scavenging devices coupled to the movement of the knee and to footsteps, heartbeats, and breezes. The American team that created the fabrics estimates that a square metre of material made this way could theoretically generate up to 80 thousandths of a watt, potentially enough to power personal electronics, from an MP3 player to a GPS.
