  Second Life? Love it! Cool weapons, blowing away bad guys... Guess again. You're thinking of Half Life. Second Life is a very different kettle of virtual fish. But I get to run around blowing away monsters, ... right? Whoa there. Second Life doesn't really work like that. Think of it as a world where you can interact with other people, set up businesses.   News & Events AUGUST 13, 2003 interactive session gets people talking about new e-community program at ubc People from across campus had the opportunity to get involved in a dialogue about the concept, ... role and potential for improved collaboration through e-Communities at UBC at the annual e-Strategy Town Hall meeting in June. Here are the highlights of what people had to say about what an e-Community is, its purpose, how we can engage people and what we need to do to develop the program as an important new aspect of the UBC e-Strategy.   So, finally web 2.0 is dead. Its jargon half-life has expired and the buzzword du jour is being interred and superseded. And by what? Well, you'll never guess. Long live web 3.0. Honestly, give me strength. ... We'll look back in 20 years and wonder when we decided to hand over the English language to people who can haggle for hours about the difference between versions 2.1 and 2.5 of some software. So, web 2.0 is gone - or at the very least it's lying in state with phalanxes of futurologists shuffling past nodding knowingly and basking in their own prescience. These are the kind of people who say that online is where they "live". Confusing abstract ideas with reality like this worries me. I spend a lot of time clicking a mouse, but, I think, I still exist. I'd advise people who are concerned that they're merging with their iMac to read some Sartre before asserting that they've coined a whole new philosophy.   November 2005 Does "Web 2.0" mean anything? Till recently I thought it didn't, but the truth turns out to be more complicated. Originally, yes, it was meaningless. Now it seems to have acquired a meaning. ... And yet those who dislike the term are probably right, because if it means what I think it does, we don't need it. I first heard the phrase "Web 2.0" in the name of the Web 2.0 conference in 2004. At the time it was supposed to mean using "the web as a platform," which I took to refer to web-based applications. [ 1 ] So I was surprised at a conference this summer when Tim O'Reilly led a session intended to figure out a definition of "Web 2.0." Didn't it already mean using the web as a platform? And if it didn't already mean something, why did we need the phrase at all? This ... is slightly similar to StumbleUpon , which also includes screenshots for its bookmarks. With this tool, there are some pre-formatted folders that you can add different bookmarks into. For instance, you can choose to place a bookmark in the News, Games or Music folders. There’s also the option of creating new folders, and all folders appear as tabs. In order to add a bookmark, you’ll need to click on the “add bookmark” link, which pulls up a window for you to insert the URL and the name of your bookmark. There are three different options for viewing your bookmarks: small thumbnails, large thumbnails, or text (I suggest you choose text). Web 2.0 is not only a new step in technology and it's not seen in foruns or free personal web pages, it's seen in iGoogle Page where the layout changes dinamically acording to the time of day of where you are, or if you not impressed yet, it's on most Google Web Apps, or every type of social software, it's Dinamic Transparent Collaboration. Web 2.0 is a marketing term but not only a marketing term.
