Linux is firmly established in the embedded market, but migrating existing source code to the operating system is a considerable undertaking. This article ... explores the steps necessary to migrate, the technical requirements and possible pitfalls and the differences between buying an established Linux implementation and developing one internally. Linux has gained a firm position in the embedded market. This raises the question of whether it is worth developing new products with Linux and replacing an existing operating system with Linux. There is effort and risk in any migration of an operating system, and the technical difficulties and analysis and planning for migration to embedded Linux require consideration and time. The reasons for migrating an operating system differ radically from company to company and even from one product to another. MUNICH, Germany Researchers of the IBM Zurich lab and the ETH Zurich university have demonstrated a new nanoprint process that could be used - among ... other applications - to create printed nanowires. The process features a resolution three orders of magnitude higher than known printing technologies, the researchers say. The achievement, published in the September issue of Nature Nanotechnolgy offers a promising tool for use in a range of fields such as biomedicine, electronics and optical technologies. In contrast to existing printing technologies, the new technique makes use of a self-assembly process that controls the arrangement of nanoparticles on the printing plate or template. "In traditional gravure printing, ink is scraped into the recessed features of a printing plate in which pigment particles are randomly dispersed", explained Tobias Kraus of the nanopatterning team in Zurich. The MOSFETs feature among the lowest ON-resistance and lowest capacitance in the industry in 2.8mm x 2.8mm and 1.6mm x 1.6mm packages and are designed to save space while meeting designers requirements for smaller internal power loss and lower operating voltage in medium output current range applications such as laptop PCs, cellular phones, digital cameras and audio players.
