Allan Pure Energy Systems News Copyright 2007 Bios Fuel Corporation of New Zealand drove a 1989 Toyota Landcruiser 3000 kilometers across the Australian Desert, running a virtually unmodified diesel engine on their H2W+ fuel blend comprising of 40% Water and 60% Waste Mineral oil as part of the Panasonic World Solar Challenge that commenced in Darwin on October 21 and finished in Adelaide six days later. It was one of 18 vehicles participating in the "Greenfleet Technology Class", travelling alongside the solar-powered vehicles, demonstrating the potential of its alternate fuel mix. ( Ref .) its feet on transitioning away from fossil fuels, according to a pair of reports released here this week. A worker stands near a vehicle planting a wind turbine at a wind farm in Yinchuan, Northwest China's Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, in this photo taken on October 19, 2007. [Xinhua] Nations across the globe invested over $50 billion collectively into renewable energy conversion last year, and in 2007 China alone is expected to account for some $10 billion of investment, explains "Powering China's Development: The Role of Renewable Energy," released Wednesday by the Worldwatch Institute, an independent Washington, DC research group. With this large financial commitment, China looks poised to pass solar and wind energy leaders in Europe and North America and in the next three years become the world's leader in renewable energy,

Loathed by environmentalists, military-style Hummers have survived years of vandalism, arson and abuse. But the lumbering American gas-guzzling vehicles

have met their match in the rocketing cost of filling a tank with petrol. Alarmed by a slump in demand for vehicles that consume vast quantities of fuel, Hummer's owner, General Motors, is reviewing the future of the Hummer brand which was originally a civilian version of the US military's armoured Humvee. The struggling Detroit-based carmaker said it was considering off-loading the business - and with US sales plunging, its prospects are cloudy. "The company is considering all options, from a complete revamp of the product line to a partial or complete sale of the brand," GM's chief executive, Rick Wagoner, told shareholders at the group's annual meeting in Delaware yesterday. Weighing in at 2.6 tonnes, a typical Hummer can only do between 10 and 15 miles on a gallon of fuel (roughly 15 litres per 100km), compared with 30 to 50 miles

develop biofuels has played a "significant" role in the dramatic rise in global food prices, which has left 100 million more people without enough to eat. The Gallagher report, due to be published next week, will trigger a review of British and EU targets for the use of plant-derived fuels in place of petrol and diesel, the Guardian has learned. The study marks a dramatic reversal in the role of biofuels in the fight against global warming. As recently as last year, corn ethanol and biodiesel derived from vegetable oil were widely seen as important weapons in that fight - and a central plank of Gordon Brown's green strategy. Now even their environmental benefits are in question. A panel of government experts, chaired by Professor Ed Gallagher, head of the Renewable Fuels Agency, has said that far more research is needed into the indire
